Jill Anderson

Jill Anderson was born in the American Midwest. Her Mother is a Scientist, her Father is an Artist. Growing up in the open fields and deep forest that surround the banks of the Mississippi river influenced her love for the geometry found in nature. Her weavings, prints and paintings reflect this desire to create balance and harmony between nature and science. She studied first at the University of Arizona, where her love of the Arts and Crafts Movement and Prairie Style Architecture were further enhanced by the barren beauty of the Southwest deserts. She received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago but soon returned to the desert. Her unique works have been exhibited throughout the United States and can be found in many public and private collections. ’ It is my passion to expose the cycles of nature, its patterns and repetitions. The rhythm of life is a balance of chaos and harmony. I hope that this is reflected in the cloth I weave, the copper I etch and the canvas I paint. If I can share the serene landscape of this amazing world through my work, I have succeeded.’
